One of the ways that we know getting you SEEN, HEARD and CONNECTED works for growing your business is that we use the same 3 key focus actions to grow the Brock Board of Trade as an organization.
Each event, meeting or workshop we attend, participate in or sponsor in driven by these three key goals. It is how we grow our networks, give you a voice, and get our input heard at the municipal, provincial and federal levels. Here is what we have been up to lately:
Our AGM and Networking Event
In February we held our Annual General Meeting combined with a Networking Event in Sunderland. With over 85 attendees, what an amazing evening of food provided by Flindall’s Freshmart; great information from Matt Anderson, the CEO of Lakeridge Health; great vendors; and two new additions to the Brock Board of Trade’s Council of Directors!
Joint Chambers and Boards of Trade Meeting
Each quarter, the Chambers and Boards of Trade from all of Durham Region meet to discuss provincial and federal level advocacy issues so that we speak from our Region with one voice. This group is also an incredibly valuable information sharing and best practices resource for the Brock Board of Trade. We met on March 8th and will again on June 14th.
Sponsor of the Business Boost Event
On March 23, the Brock Board of Trade sponsored a Business Boost event at The Link in Sutton. This breakfast event brought together funders to provide businesses with a look at funding options available. This was a very popular event that has been recommended to do again next year.
Participant in the Community Economic Development Matrix Meeting
On March 28th, the Township of Brock hosted a community Matrix session where all community groups in the Township were invited to attend and share their experience to foster cooperative efforts in the Township. Two members of our Council of Directors represented the activities and purpose of the Brock Board of Trade at this event.
Presenting at the Mayor’s Business Breakfast in Brock
Pictured here is our President, Christine Dukelow presenting at the Mayor’s Business Breakfast on April 25th to give an update on who we are and how we are serving our membership and the larger business community.
Co-Hosting a Marketing Event
Also on April 25th, the Brock Board of Trade co-hosted a Professional Portrait Party event with Katie Sauren Photography at the Nourish and Develop Foundation in Cannington. This event gave businesses the opportunity to up their marketing efforts with professional head-shots.
Brock’s Voice at the Transportation Round Table
On April 24th, representatives from the Board and our membership participated in a round-table forum to give Brock’s transportation issues a voice at this provincial advocacy level from a business perspective.
The Brock Board of Trade will continue to get SEEN, HEARD and CONNECTED for our members, and we will continue to support our members to do the same. As our membership grows, so does our ability to offer more value-added events and advocacy through participation is business related workshops, workgroups and initiatives.
